SOUTHWEST, IA. (2012-10-16)

Southwest Iowa and Northwest Missouri residents will receive faster medical air service beginning today.

Clarinda Regional Health Center have partnered with Mercy One Center out of Des Moines and Air Methods/LifeNet to bring the most advanced medical services to the area. The Clarinda-based air ambulance will serve an initial area within a 40-mile radius of Clarinda and will have the ability to transport patients to Omaha, Lincoln, Des Moines and St. Joseph. Spokesperson for the Clarinda Regional Health Center, Jason Bridie, says they are excited to bring this new service to the area.

Mercy - Des Moines will hire the staff for the service, and so far have hired 11 new flight paramedics and flight nurses who will be based in Clarinda, as well as 3 pilots and a mechanic to operate this new service. The air ambulance will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
