Despite layoffs and closures of MoDOT buildings across north Missouri, state officials say it's the maintenance workers that can be confident their jobs are secure.

Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission oversees the Department of Transportation. Commission chair Grace Nichols says budget cutting will continue, but boots on the ground maintenance workers are not at risk of losing their jobs.

MoDOT expects to eliminate 500 more jobs state-wide within the next 2 years.
