Tarkio congressman Sam Graves has introduced a tax credit aimed at helping teachers.

The plan is to expand and extend a soon-to-expire tax deduction and keep it active to 2017. This will allow full time teachers who pay for classroom supplies from their own money to get a tax deduction of $500. It will also create a new tax deduction of $250 for part time teachers who pay from their own pickets. The teacher tax deduction is set to expire at the end of this year. Grave's bill has received bi-partisan support from lawmakers from North Carolina, Georgia, Iowa, and other states.
