ST. JOSEPH, MO (2010-10-18) Two Major Bills from the special session of the Missouri legislature go into effect this month.
Both the manufacturing jobs act and pension reform are becoming law. Missouri senate president pro Tem Charlie shields of St. Joseph says the pension law will require new state employees hired after January first of next year to pay 4% of their salaries into state retirement. But he says it's the retirement system for teachers in Missouri that remains a concern. Lawmakers are expected to re-visit the state's teacher pension plan when the legislature re-convenes in January.
