ALBANY, MO (2010-10-27) The Albany School District is planning to develop a school farm.
Superintendent Bryan Prewitt updated the board on the project at the recent school meeting. Plans call for the R-3 District to buy a small tract of land and construct a building that would serve as a classroom space House 15 or 16 student projects and could include a shop. The superintendent says the goal is to strengthen the FFA program, and the Albany school might even tap into a partnership with the nearby Hundley Whaley Agricultural Research Center in Albany. Prewitt says a private foundation might help them with part of the funding. The district is targeting an early December land purchase for the school farm.
