GRANT CITY, MO (2010-10-28) A hundred years of history is up in smoke after a fire levels the west side of Grant City's square.
It broke out around noon yesterday the initial investigation shows it might have started in the pixie shop building on the northwest corner of the square surrounding the Worth County Courthouse. It consumed at least 5 buildings on that side and created such heavy smoke the courthouse was evacuated mid afternoon. At least six fire departments from across northwest Missouri were called into help contain the blaze. Battling it in nearly 40 mile per hour winds most of the afternoon. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause.
