CHILLICOTHE, MO (2010-10-20) Albany tops the Missouri Community Betterment Awards in this year's state wide competition with the community of the year award.
Chillicothe, Cameron, and others are also honored, along with several individuals in our region. The community betterment awards are given by population size and after state judges visited towns earlier this Fall to hear of improvements in community projects over the past year. Grant City took the third place award in it's population division, Albany first place and Chillicothe first place. Cameron received a second place award. The youth group of the year award went to Chillicothe in its division. Individuals honored for the Adult Leadership Award include Connie Worden of Albany and Rhonda Uptain of Brookfield. Dallas Stonum of Albany received the Youth Leadership Award. A total of 37 communities competed in this year's competition.
