MARYVILLE, MO (2009-10-28) Maryville residents turned out in force to voice their opinions about expanding the City's Smoking ban.
A public forum was held before Monday night's city council meeting, and council member Shawn Wake says City Hall was packed to capacity with people supporting both sides of the issue. Maryville's current ordinance bans smoking in any business that receives the majority of its profit from food sales. However, the City is considering an extension of the ban, which would prohibit smoking in all public places. Wake says the City hasn't drafted an ordinance yet, they're simply testing the waters to see how the community feels about the extension. A second public hearing on the issue will be held on November 9th.
