SAVANNAH, MO (2009-10-21) The Savannah City Council is working on a hazard plan one that other communities will have to consider as well.
At the recent City Council meeting a Missouri & Kansas representative explained Savannah has adopted a FEMA-approved hazard mitigation plan. But for communities to get funding for hazard mitigation they must now actively participate in the process and document that. The plan which strives to lessen the impact to life and property in a natural disaster would last for 5 years before another review. Also at the meeting the Savannah Council members passed the 2010 budget for the City.
