MARYVILLE, MO (2009-10-28) Maryville receives some special visitors this Friday.
About 20 students from the command and general staff college out of Fort Leavenworth Kansas will meet local leaders and share their experiences. The college is a military training ground that teaches soldiers community service and communication skills. A special link has been forged between the college and Maryville through the last several years with journalism students at Northwest Missouri State participating in real-time war training at the Ft. Leavenworth school. Officers coming to Maryville are veterans of recent conflicts in Iraq, Kosovo, and Afghanistan. They'll be presenting Friday morning starting at 11:30 at the University's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, but reservations are requested because of limited space to the Maryville Chamber Office today.
