MARYVILLE, MO (2009-10-23) Missouri officials say they understand how citizens could be concerned when next year's census takers knock at your door but they say not giving information could be devastating to the State.
The federal information gatherers have worked in the past with the group "Acorn", which is under federal investigation, and the administration has apologized to sending unsolicited e-mails to private citizens. But the state office of administration commissioner Kevin Simmons warns citizens not giving information to census workers could result in an undercount, which could mean the loss of federal aid and even a congressional seat. The office of administration says it will not give any census data out to any agency except the census agency when the census starts in less than 6 months.
