Dog Fight Plea

Davison

KANSAS CITY, MO (2009-10-07) Kansas City, Mo. (AP) - A registered nurse at a community hospital in Bethany has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of participating in a dogfighting ring and hosting fights at his Northwest Missorui Home.

Prosecutors say 48 year old Cris Bottcher admitted in his plea that he took part in a scheme to transport dogs across state lines for fighting. Bottcher, of Gilman City, was arrested in July after raids on dogfighting operations in Missouri, Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa and Mississippi. More than 400 dogs were rescued in the raids. Bottcher could be sentenced to up to 5 years in prison without parole and a fine of up to $250,000.
