MARYVILLE, MO (2009-10-27) The Missouri Department of Agriculture is considering changing rules to help dairy and pork producers.
The MDA is proposing an emergency rule to help extend credit to Missouri agriculture producers through the single purpose animal loan guarantee program. That program proves a 50% guarantee on loans up to a quarter million dollars that banks make to other lenders, but currently doesn't include refinancing options or loans for operations expenses. The State Department of Agriculture is pushing for the change, which it says could take effect as early as next Monday.
