Phone Bills

Wayman

MARYVILLE, MO (2008-10-23) The Embarq Telephone Company can now raise and lower rates whenever it wants in northern Missouri- it no longer has to ask state regulator's permission.

That's the ruling from the Public Service Commission, which is giving Embarq the freedom to change rates in 35 communities, including Maryville, Clinton, King City, Pickering, Tarkio and Weston.

The state's decided since there's at least one cellular phone company offering service in these communities, the marketplace will determine the fair price for phone service and embarq will answer to that- not to state regulators.
