MARYVILLE, MO (2008-10-15) The grass-roots group that has gotten Maryville's trail system into reality has decided to become an officially-recognized not-for-profit organization.
The trails committee has worked with the city to finalize a multi-use hike and bike style trail map, and is helping to find grants and other funding.
This week the group heard from a local expert and decided to incorporate and become a not-for-profit in order to give it structure and identity.
It's possible it could fall under the umbrella of Nodaway County Economic Development- that group has taken in similar committees in the past in order for them to become non-profits.
An attorney will be moving forward with the plan over the next several months.
