Incumbent Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill has successfully defended her seat in the senate against Republican challenger Todd Akin.

The crowd cheered as McCaskill took the stage and dedicated her victory to her mother, who passed just 8 days before the election.

After the celebration of McCaskill's win, the crowd cheered as CNN projected President Obama's reelection.
