ROCK PORT, MO (2011-11-30)
The Rock Port Board of Aldermen agree to close a street near the high school.
The closure comes at the request of Rock Port High principal Jeff Blackford, who says safety concerns prompted the closure of a portion of Kansas Street. That's between Calhoun and Warren Avenue. The Aldermen agreed to close that stretch during the school year weekdays from 8 in the morning until 3:07 each afternoon. Also at the meeting members approved next year's public works budget for Rock Port and agreed to move forward with a plan to improve street lighting at Exit 110 on Interstate 29. The city will work with the Atchison County Development Corporation on the project.
