Grain Fire Still Burning

Nearly a month after the explosion, grain continues to burn inside the Bartlett grain elevator in Atchison Kansas.

Over the weekend city fire crews were called to the facility three times to try to extinguish the smoldering grain. Fire chief Mike McDermed says it's something they have been doing repeatedly since the explosion.

The chief says the grain company plans on using cranes to remove grain, then spread it out on the ground to be extinguished. There's no timeline set for that operation.
