Electricity has come to Maryville, electric cars that is.

Boyles Motors has accepted its first Chevy Volt and will be showing the car off the next several weeks. Programmable to delay charging in off-peak hours, the electric 4-seater will self-charge at half power using about a 10 gallon tank of gas. Traveling is all-electric. David Boyles says he views the Volt as the start of an era.

Boyles plans on displaying the electric vehicle at several area utility companies to spread the word on the start of electric transportation.
