Bison!

Wayman

BETHANY, MO (2011-11-18)

For the first time in nearly 200 years, American Bison are roaming native grassland in north Missouri.

36 genetically pure bison bolted yesterday after being released yesterday afternoon at Dunn Ranch north of Bethany. They will be roaming 2,500 acres there, helping to restore the natural ecosystem of the unplowed prairie land. Randy Arndt is the director at Dunn Ranch and says he expects the bison to be not just a natural help to the ecosystem, but an economic draw as well.Dunn Ranch officials expect the heard to breed into 350 head in about 5 years.
