MARYVILLE, MO (2010-11-04) The USDA and Nodaway County is helping local farmers in a tough spot.
This new program is the USDA's crop assistance program or "CAP". It provides disasteraid to producers in specified counties whose rice, upland cotton, soybeans and sweet potato production was affected by excessive moisture last year. Farmers may sign up for CAP now until December 9th. Executive director for Nodaway County Farm Service Agency Tim Dreier says it's easy to register. To sign up, farmers are asked to go to the USDA office in their county.
