ST. JOSEPH, MO (2010-11-24) The bus driver who ran into and killed a Lafayette High School student in St. Joseph now faces jail time.
The Buchanan county prosecutor has charged Tracey Jones with careless and imprudent driving. That's a misdemeanor carrying a maximum sentence of 1 year in jail. Investigators say the 23 year old Jones was driving on Grand Avenue last Monday when she turned to go south on St. Joseph Avenue and failed to yield to Mason Adams, hitting and killing him. The prosecutor's office calls the death "Tragic" but nonetheless filed the charge based on the alleged failure to yield.
