ST. JOSEPH, MO (2010-11-29) The endangered Pallid Sturgeon has been a controversial issue for Missouri River towns like St. Joseph, as federal officials constantly change the river level for encourage habitat for the fish.
Now, Missouri environmental groups want even more to be done to protect the Pallid Sturgeon. Great Rivers Environmental Center director Kathleen Henry says the coalition wants the US fish and wildlife service to designate critical habitat in both the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. A spokesperson for the federal wildlife service said the agency cannot comment on pending litigation.
