MOUND CITY, MO (2010-11-26) This is the season for feasting, but a Northwest Missouri Corn Producer is thinking more on the global scale.
Mound City corn farmer Morris Heitman has returned from a Tokyo trade mission, where he promoted US beef and pork consumption. Heitman is a board member for the Missouri Corn Merchandising council and says a significant amount of US corn product goes to domestic feed and promoting the market helps with corn and cattle prices exported to foreign countries. While in Tokyo Heitman visited two of the largest importers of american beef in Japan and attended various consumer events even touring the largest cold storage warehouse in the far east. His delegation spoke with more than 300 japanese meat industry representatives during the trade mission.
