MARYVILLE, MO (2010-11-12) A Maryville 5th grader has won first place in state-wide competition for her research of a classical music composer.
Sabrina Olson analyzed one of the compositions in detail and took home the trophy in music theory from the Missouri Music Teacher's State Competition. Olson not only won over hundreds of other students from across Missouri, but also took honorable mention for her piano performances of two works, one by Prokofiev and one by Greig. Olson started playing piano at the age of 4.
