TARKIO, MO (2010-11-05) A Tarkio business owner has been appointed by the governor to determine the pay rates of state elected officials.
Julie Hurst is one of a dozen citizens now serving on the Missouri citizens commission on compensation for elected officials. That group establishes pay for lawmakers in the general assembly, judges, and other elected officials on the state level. Hurst is the owner of Hurst Greenery in Westboro, which she started with her husband in 1986. Her family also raise corn and soybean on Hurst Farms.
