MARYVILLE, MO (2010-11-10) An associate professor at the university in Maryville receives the governor's award for excellence in education.
Dr. April Haberyan teaches in the Department of Psychology, Sociology, and Counseling where she's consistently received some of the highest course ratings in the department. She's also helped with the creation of two psychology courses at Northwest Missouri State, and a new interdisciplinary emergency response and disaster relief minor. Haberyan has even led groups of students to florida to participate in field drills simulating real life disaster scenarios. The governor's award is given annually to an outstanding faculty member in each Missouri's 4-year higher education schools. She will receive the award during a ceremony in Jefferson City in February.
