ST. JOSEPH, MO (2010-11-15) Our region's Red Cross office in St. Joseph is announcing a new program that hopes to educate 5 million people in a life saving technique.
The "Citizens CPR" hands only course is a new class that the Red Cross hopes businesses and schools will use to train students and employees in case of heart related emergencies. Hands only CPR is a technique that involves using chest compressions and involves no mouth to mouth contact. St. Joseph Red Cross director Kevin Kirby says this is a nationwide initiative. You can go to www.redcross.org to download an instructional guide on hands only CPR.
