MARYVILLE, MO (2010-11-03) The votes have been tallied and the voters of Buchanan County have chosen their new county and state leaders.
In state wide elections Buchanan County residents chose republican Roy Blunt who recieved 54% of the vote for the US senate. Republican Sam Graves ran away with election for US representative recieving 66% of the vote. Democrat Susan Montee took the state auditor ace recieving 53%. Turning to local races republican Rob Schaaf defeated democrat Martin Rucker with 52% of the vote. Republican Delus Johnson took the 29th district state representative race with 61%. In the division 5 associate circuit judge race, republican Keith Marquart overwhelmed the opposition with 71% of the vote. Running on the republican ticket R.T.Turner took the Buchanan County presiding commissioner with 65% approval. In a tight race for the county clerk position republican Mary Garvey defeated democrat Kelley Stahlin with 53% of the vote. Democrat Pat conway took the 27th district state representative race with 60% of the vote. Republican Galen Higdon Jr. defeated the opposition by recieving 65% of the vote in the race. Now with proposed issues that were on the ballot. The proposed St. Joseph hotel tax increase did not pass after 54% of voters voted no. Proprosed amendment 1 passed overwhelmingly with 74% of voters approval. Proprosed amendment 2 passed after recieving 58% of voter approval. Proprosed amendment 3 recieved approval after 89% of the voters said yes. Proposition "A" passed with 78%. And proposition "B" barely passed in Buchanan County after recieving 51% approval from voters.
