BROOKFIELD, MO (2010-11-26) The Brookfield School Board got a glimpse of budget matters at this week's meeting.
A consultant gave a presentation to board members highlighting the state's budget shortfall, bond refinancing options, and other matters. Re-financing some of the school's debt could save about $50,000. The board is also considering proposing a no-tax bond issue to voters in April. The Brookfield school board will be investigating that possibility, with a decision date of January 18th whether or not to put it on the ballot. Brookfield superintendent Dr. Paul Barger is also visiting with administrators from Linn County R1 and Meadville to discuss some students coming to Brookfield. And the district is working with Graceland University for possible professional development opportunities for teachers and student teachers in the R3 schools.
