ST. JOSEPH, MO. (2009-11-06) St. Joseph representative Rob Schaaf says the State's budget picture will demand looking at all options.
Schaaf was one of three lawmakers who spoke at a forum in Maryville this week centered around the Bleak budget situation. Schaaf gave the example of State prisons as one area to think outside the box. Some State officials think Missouri will have to save nearly 2 billion dollars from its budgets in the next two fiscal years in order for it to be balanced as the State constitution mandates. The annual budget for Missouri is usually around 22 billion dollars.
