MARYVILLE, MO (2009-11-30) It looks like Maryville restaurants are defying a nationwide trend.
National surveys show restaurant sales are slipping because of the ongoing recession. But managers of some Maryville establishments report sales increasing. They say customers are staying in town instead of traveling to out of town restaurants. Carson's owner Carson Riedel says the recession makes eating locally an attractive choice. Riedel adds he's optimistic for growth even after the economy picks up.
