ST. JOSEPH, MO. (2009-11-06) Winning votes from the community means changes for residents in Northwest Missouri.
The week St. Joseph voters passed a 6.5 million dollar school levy. The passage means an increase in property taxes that will take effect late next year. Assistant to the superintendent Steve Huff says the levy won't take effect right away and work is curently being done internally to decide how to spend the funds. Huff adds the budget for the current year has already been made and put into place but after recent cuts that had to be made by the school board he is grateful for support from the coomunity in getting this levy back on the ballot and getting it passed.
