MARYVILLE, MO (2009-11-16) Our Amish communities choose not to use modern technology, but some till take advantage of cutting edge pesticides when farming.
That's why extension agencies across our region are launching an educational effort specifically targeting both Amish and mennonite residents. The $51,000 program will educate the population on pesticide management, storage, weed control, and other practices. Heather Duncan is an environmental scientist with the EPA and says getting the word our takes a new way of thinking. Amish or mennonite community members interested in attending a workshop can contact the local extension agency.
