More than a million federal dollars is given to northwest missouri state to help build the new nano-science program on campus.
The money will be used to equip laboratory space in the new "c-i-e", or "center for innovation and entrepreneurship".
That will be the center of a new academic program that will teach methods of using ultra-miniaturized machines and chemical pin-pointers to advance medicine, science, and technology.
University officials hope to attract more high-tech science companies to the space, which they'll share with students learning nano-science.
Those classes are set to start next year.
The one-point-one four million dollar grant will be used to purchase a scanning electron microscope and an atomic force microscope to be used in the research.
