MARYVILLE, MO (2012-05-14)
The State of Missouri's 2012 fiscal year budget was passed by the Missouri General Assembly last week one day before the deadline.
The 24 billion dollar proposal will now be forwarded to Governor Jay Nixon for his approval. The budget put back in place money for higher education that Governor Nixon had taken out in his proposal in January. 4th District State Representative Mike Thomson of Maryville is the chairman of the House Higher Education Committee. He says he realizes the Governor will have to take a close look at the budget proposal from the General Assembly but feels the funding for higher education will remain in place.
This year's Missouri General Assembly session will conclude on Friday.© Copyright, KXCV
