HOLT COUNTY, MO (2012-05-03)
The 700th Safe and Sound bridge was completed this week in Holt County.
The Missouri Department of Transportation held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Route C at the Mid Branch Squaw Creek Bridge. Customer relations manager for the MoDOT northwest district, Melissa Black, says completing the 700th bridge means they are almost done with their goal.
The Safe and Sound Bridge program started in 2009, hoping to complete 802 bridges by the end of this year. The purpose of the program is to refurbish bridges that were unsafe to continue driving on. Black says some of the bridges they came across were quite old and in poor condition. The program is looking to complete their final bridge later this year.© Copyright, KXCV
