Mayo W Heartland
ST. JOSEPH, MO (2012-05-24)
Heartland Health of Saint Joseph has announced it has been accepted as a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network.
The network, run by one of the nation's top five largest medical names, will extend knowledge and expertise between physicians and providers. President and CEO of Heartland Health, Doctor Mark Laney, say the plan has been in the works for two years, and foresees it helping both institutions for a long time.
Mayo Clinic's goal with the network is to create a strategic plan to reach out to hospitals and health systems across America to work with them and bring clinical advantages to local areas. The collaboration allows Heartland to use the latest evidence based protocols and send patient info such as x-rays to Mayo Clinic and get additional information or recommendations. Laney says this arrangement will also attract future staff to Heartland.
Heartland Health is one of just three locations picked so far by Mayo Clinic, with over 40 applications across the globe being considered in future expansions. Heartland will spend the next several weeks training its staff on electronic tools to use with the Mayo Clinic Care Network.
