MARYVILLE, MO (2011-05-24)
Maryville residents could soon see a 20% increase in their water bills.
That's the proposal on the table for the city council. City manager Matt LeCerf says Maryville has declined to raise rates for about 3 years. But he says the city has to gain revenue to pay for 3 bit items: 2 and a half million dollars for 2 new water towers, about half a million to upgrades older equipment to clean the drinking water, and the biggest item: a forced upgrade of Maryville's waste water facility.
LeCerf adds there most likely will be a public comment period on the water rate hike proposal. If approved it could go into effect by this Fall.© Copyright, KXCV
