Scene of heroism both during and after Joplin's tornado are starting to trickle out and no scene is more gripping than what happened inside the 9 story St. John's Regional Medical Center.
Patients had to be evacuated despite elevators being down and nurses even had to navigate the labyrinth of the dark hospital by memory during the crisis. Drew Alexander is the head of the Emergency Department and says planning for the worst case scenario turned out not to be the worse case scenario.
