Holt Flooding

There has not yet been a mandatory evacuation order issued for the big lake area in Holt county but flood preparations have begun.

Emergency management officials are anticipating the lake to once again go voer the banks as the corps begins releasing water into the Missouri River later this week. Kathy Kunkel is Holt County Clerk and serves on the emergency management team. She says there is some water over Driftwood Road on the west side of big lake.

County officials suggest big lake residents tell someone where they are going if they decide to leave to keep communication flowing. Based on expected river levels, that area could start to see flooding on Friday.
