An area hospital is helping with the relief effort in Joplin.

Kansas City's Children's Mercy Hospital is receiving patients from the southwest Missouri area and expects to continue admitting transfer patients. A spokeswoman from Children's Mercy Hospital and Clinics Jessica Salazar says the hospital is receiving pediatric patients. That was Children's Mercy Hospital spokeswoman, Jessica Salazar. The Red Cross suggests that individuals affected by the storm report themselves to their "Safe and Well" database at Red-Cross.org
