Rock Port, MO (2010-05-10) Regional ag producers looking for a niche can explore the possiblity on Wednesday night of producing winegrapes in our region.
The workshop will take place at the Velma Houts (howts) Fair Building in Rock Port that will discuss local production of winegrapes.
Topics will include: proper site selection, choosing a winegrape cultivar, trellising options for midwest vineyards, and an overview of vineyard economics.
Each topic will provide insight into the important aspects of winegrape production to assist producers in deciding if this is an opportunity they want to pursue.
The extension agent in Rock Port Jim Crawford says, it is a great opportunity for this region.
The workshop starts at Wednesday at 6, and will be lead by Andy Allen, a grape expert from Missouri.
