Sunshine Violations

North Missouri, MO (2010-05-20) Several local government groups in our region are named in a state report showing failure to abide by Missouri's Sunshine Law.

The findings come from the State Auditor's office, which found violations by city and county governments in state statutes regarding open meetings, closed meetings, public records, and meeting agendas.

Those sighted include government officials in Union Star, St. Joseph, Quitman, Livingston County, Linn County, Caldwell County, and Gentry County.

All those governments are aware of the findings and have assured the Auditor's office they have or are working to correctly follow Missouri's Sunshine Law statutes.
