Gallatin, MO (2010-05-20) The Daviess County Sheriff's Department and State Highway Patrol are named in a lawsuit seeking 2 million dollars.
Martin Jonassen of Elwood Kansas filed the suit on behalf of his two minor children after an incident in Daviess County in 2008.
In May of that year a Highway Patrol Trooper tried to pull over a car without a license plate driven by Moses Jonassen, who had several outstanding arrest warrants.
The car pulled into a driveway and the patrol says the teen driver resisted arrest and several family members came running out of the house and got involved in the fray.
A second Trooper arrived and arrested all 6 for interfering with an arrest.
One of those was Elizabeth Jonassen, who last month was tried on the charge but a mistrial was declared.
Now, Martin Jonassen is asking for more than 2 million dollars in damages, alledging violation of civil rights, excessive force, mental abuse of minor children, and other charges.
