St. Joseph, MO (2010-05-12) The Missouri Attorney General files a lawsuit against a St. Joseph company.
Oak Mill is a vegetable oil recycling company that settled with the state back in 2008.
Now, state investigators say the company is polluting Whitehead Creek in Buchanan County and is not complying with the terms of the 2008 agreement.
They say runoff from the property has elevated the biochemical oxygen demand levels and oil and grease levels in the creek.
The state is asking the court to issue injunctions against Oak Mill and assess fines that could run as high as 10 thousand dollars per each day it violated the clean water law.
