MARYVILLE, MO (2010-05-12) Maryville and other North Missouri communities continue to wait and see if the Tour of Missouri will happen this fall.
Both the Governor and the state's tourism office appears unwilling to free up a million state dollars set aside for the bicycle race.
And Governor Jay Nixon indicates he's not wanting to get further involved.
Similar drama surrounded state support last year, when Nixon eventually agreed to free up 1-point-5 million dollars for the 2009 race. But this year Nixon says he supports the Tourism Commission's position.
Tour supporters say Nixon has refused to meet with them.
The race is a project of Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder, who is a likely challenger to Nixon in 20-12.
