MARYVILLE, MO (2010-05-11) It's now illegal to harass a pedestrian, bicyclist, or people in wheelchairs in Maryville.
The City Council approved the new ordinance last night, which goes into effect immediately.
City Manager Matt LaCurf (luh-surf) says it's a result of the expected increase of bikes sharing the road as Maryville's new multi-use trail system expands.
The council also agreed to join a class action lawsuit against Alltel to recover franchise tax the cell company owes to cities across Missouri.
Maryville is not one of them now, but decided to join the class action suit in case legal calculations were made in the future that would make the City eligible for compensation.
