Nebraska City, Neb. (2010-05-04) A Nebraska City couple receives special recognition from Nebraska City's Arbor Day committee.
Duane and Jackie Smith are the 2010 honorees for planting several hundred trees on their acreage since 1969.
Besides their eastern white pine and red cedar forest, the Smith's devote time to researching ways to stop deer from eating their trees.
They've also donated several trees to the Arbor Lodge State Historical Park.
A tree is being planted in their honor at the park.
