Albany, MO (2010-05-24) The Albany R-3 School District is one step closer to getting a random drug screening policy starting in the fall.
The board has read through the proposal once and should discuss it two more times before taking action.
Albany Superintendent Bryan Prewitt says if approved the district will contract with an outside company to come to the school and perform the random screenings.
Prewitt says it would effect any students 6th grade and older who wanted to be in extra curricular activities or park in the high school parking lot- participation by other students would be voluntary.
The board at its last meeting also hired for two new positions- alumnus Amanda Girantano (ger-ah-tan-o) is back teaching high school English and Chris Eckert will be the new Technology Coordinator for Albany.
